Theresa Marie (Norton) Wavada, of Lee’s Summit MO, died early in the morning of Friday, March 17, 2017 at the age of 61. She died peacefully at home under hospice care. A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 21 at 5:00pm at Floral Hills Funeral Home 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd KCMO; and a memorial service will begin at 6:00pm following the visitation hour. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Jackson County CASA. Theresa was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer on July 8, 2016. She underwent chemo treatment at St. Luke’s Cancer Institute in Lee’s Summit. She fought for as much time as possible with her family and friends. She felt good for several weeks between mid-November and February. She took two trips in January – one to Utah and one to Florida. However, chemo became less effective and less tolerable. Theresa died after one week of wonderful care from Crossroads Hospice. Theresa was born June 21 (the longest day of the year), 1955 in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Raytown South High School in 1973. She graduated from MU’s School of Nursing in 1977. She worked as a nurse until she began working at Cerner Corporation in 1997. She retired from Cerner in 2014. During her retirement, she helped take care of her grandkids, along with many other fun things. She was preceded in death by her parents, Justin and Betty Norton; sister Brenda Redic; and infant son John Victor. Survivors include her husband, Victor; daughter and son-in-law Sara and Matt Lero, and their children Isaac and Wren; son Matt; many nieces and nephews; and many other beloved relatives.
