Teresa Marie (Theiss) Hunt went to be with her beloved, Granville E. ‘Buddy’ Hunt on February 17, 2019 at age 92 after a devastating fight with dementia. She was predeceased by Buddy in 1996 after 46 years of marriage.
Teresa was the oldest child of four born July 1, 1926 to William John Theiss and Rose Helen (Kurzweil) Theiss. With only a high school education, she came to the city and went to work for a mortgage company. She learned from the ground up earning the respect of the owner and office manager who took her under their wing. She was a quick learner and eager for knowledge. She worked until retiring at age 83.
Teresa and Buddy had three children. The work ethic imparted from being raised on a farm afforded Teresa the ability, while working full time, to keep her home in order. Home cooked meals nightly with family gathered around the table; laundry done; house clean. It was incredible how, with the help of her loving spouse and partner, they were able to keep everything in balance. Their love was shown in many ways but they felt the most important way was to provide their children with the tools and education to become successful adults.
Teresa and Buddy enjoyed listening to Big Band Music and playing cards with friends. They joked that their ‘private’ time together was at the kitchen sink doing dishes after dinner. They dabbled in dance lessons; spending time with friends at the Lake of the Ozarks; and some traveling. Teresa later added Ireland and Italy to her travels. She volunteered with the local Optimist Club on the Board; helping with their annual fireworks fund raiser; and putting together scrapbooks of their events. She loved attending the Dinner Theater especially enjoying the musicals sharing her table for two with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley and husband Bill of Pilot Point, Tx; her sons Michael and his wife Ann of Kansas City, MO, and Douglas and his wife Tricia of Leawood, KS. Six Grandchildren Kyle and wife Christina; Travis and wife Leah; Garrett; Kasey; Shane; and Rachel and two Great Grandchildren Cade and Christopher. Two brothers Floyd Joseph Theiss and wife Mary Ann of Greenwood, MO, and William John Theiss of Kansas City, MO, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother Ralph Charles Theiss.
