A native of Leawood, Kansas, Sean attended Nativity Parish School and Blue Valley North high school before matriculating to Saint Louis University (SLU) on a swimming scholarship. He was named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll. He competed in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship as a freshman. Sean earned four varsity letters as a sprinter at Blue Valley North where he garnered two All-America honors, first-team All-State as a junior and senior, second-team All-State as a sophomore. He competed nationally for Kansas City Swim Academy, earning Missouri Valley All-Academic plaudits. In the summers, Sean was a lifeguard, set records and won championships in the Country Club Swim Association of Kansas City. He loved teaching kids how to excel in the sport as a swim coach at Hallbrook Country Club and KCSA. Sean was a member of the National Honor Society, an Eagle Scout, an avid sailor and a bright student, recognized as a SLU Scholar-Athlete.
Sean was a caring son, brother, grandson, cousin and friend. He had a hilarious one liner for every occasion, cracking everyone up with his sharp wit. He displayed an entrepreneurial spirit from a very young age, from selling his brothers’ Halloween candy, to using his confirmation money to buy a single share of Amazon stock at just the right moment! The family all believed that Sean was a wheeler-dealer billionaire in the making. He enjoyed his many cousins and was always a big part of family get-togethers in Atlanta and Florida. Sean was also proud of his Irish heritage and enjoyed visiting the home of his maternal grandparents. His parents, Cara and Jim, were extremely proud of Sean and his boundless potential. His family and friends were blessed to have him in their lives.
Sean lives on in his mother, Cara, father, Jim, brothers, Brian and Liam, grandparents, Jim and Mary North and Margot and Danny McCaul. Services include a Rosary and Visitation from 9-11 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Church of the Nativity at 3800 W. 119th Street, Leawood, KS 66209.
