He was born in Leigh, Texas on November 07, 1935, to Mr. Emmitt E. Gregory, Sr. and Mrs. Clementine (Boone) Gregory. His parents along with six sisters, 1 brother, and 1 daughter Tamala Holland preceded him in death.
Scott gave is life to the Lord at an early age... At Antioch Baptist Church in Leigh, Texas. He joined St Stephen Baptist Church were he severed for many years. He was a long-time member of Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ. He attended school in Karnack, Texas.
Scott was a Veteran... He served in the United States Army, and the Korean War before being honorably discharged. He moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he worked at Montgomery Wards, Zale’s Jewelry Store, and he retired from General Motors after 32 1/2 years of service. Since he had perfect attendance, he received a 10,000-dollar voucher towards a vehicle and he also belonged to UAW Local # 31.
Scott married Shirley Leonard in April, 1961 where 3 children were born to that union. His relationship with Effie Holland - 1 child was born. Scott met the love of his life Manerva Brown, they were married June 30, 1990, they both had bonus children from this union.
Scott had many hobbies, he loved to garden, his passion was carpentry and remodeling. He also enjoyed traveling. Scott valued and loved the time he spent with his family; his grandchildren just flocked to him.
Scott will forever be cherished and remembered by his wife, Manerva Gregory whom he loved dearly. He also leaves his children to cherish his memory. Tracy Gregory, Scott Gregory Jr, Robin Gregory, Connie James Jr. (Adell), Vickie Dowdy (Brad), and Angela Williams (Tommy), Brandon Gregory (Nicole) who was like a son, bonus mother Laura Bell Brown, Sharon Holmes (Roderick) sister all of Missouri, (24) grandchildren and (24) great-grandchildren. Special friend Geraldine Starks of Little Rock Arkansas. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who also left to cherish in his remembrance.
A Visitation for Scott will be held from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Friday, March 31 at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ, 3619 East 35th Street, Kansas City, MO followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00pm. Scott will be laid to rest in Longview Cemetery, 12700 SE Raytown Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64149.
