Ryan Dale Goddard, 29, of Kansas City, Missouri, went to his reward on August 2, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ryan was born in Des Moines, Iowa, to Dale and Sheryl Goddard on August 20,1980. He was a native of the east side and graduated from East High School in 1998. After high school, Ryan attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo., and earned a bachelor’s degree in geography. While at college, Ryan joined the Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity. He served as the president for one term and formed a band of great friendships he truly cherished. In 1999, he met the love of his life, Ginny, and spent the rest of his life with her by his side. After graduation, Ryan became a loyal employee of Wilson and Company Inc (formerly Western Air Maps) where he worked as a Geospatial Specialist until the last weeks of his life. Although Ryan’s life only spanned 29 years, it was not lived without substance. He had an amazing family, a loving wife and countless great friends. He knew he was a blessed man regardless of his illness. His strength, courage and kindness was an inspiration to many and will never be forgotten. Ryan is survived by his wife, Ginny Goddard of Kansas City, Missouri; parents Dale and Sheryl Goddard; sisters Angela (Brian) Leeper and Amy Goddard; grandfather John Renteria; nephew Carter Leeper and niece Chloe Leeper all of Des Moines, Iowa as well as several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lorraine Renteria. A visitation will take place from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following on Friday, August 6, at Broadway United Methodist Church, 406 W. 74th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64114.
