Ronald Francis Spano, born September 23, 1946 in Kansas City, MO, peacefully passed away on August 23, 2024, at the age of 77. A proud Vietnam veteran, Ron served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army for two years with honor and courage.
A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Ron is survived by his wife Candace, his two children, Brian Spano (Margaret) of Lee’s Summit, MO; and Melissa Miele (John) of St. Augustine, FL; and his three grandchildren: Jack Spano (21), Emily Spano (18) and Ian Miele (16), who brought immense joy and pride to his life; his brother Mark Spano (Carlus Walters) of Raleigh, NC; brother-in-law Dennis Witte of Des Moines, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
Ron attended De La Salle High School in Kansas City and Avila University after his discharge from the Army.
Ron spent many years working in data processing at Montgomery Ward, where he was known for his dedication, strong work ethic and jovial spirit. He and his wife Candace resided in Shawnee, Kansas, where he spent his days cheering on his favorite sports teams—the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs. But what he loved most was cooking. Whether it was barbecuing ribs or chicken, baking homemade lasagna, or making homemade Italian sausage, guests never left hungry.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Paul Spano and Helen Marie Pellegrino Spano, and his sister Susan Marie Spano Witte.
Ron will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
