Ron and his twin brother, Don, were born on May 26, 1937, in Portland, Oregon, to Donald S. and Della G. Eber. When he was 10 years old, he moved with his family to Kansas City, Missouri, where he attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School, Lillis High School, K-State, and UMKC.
On March 2, 1957, Ron married Arlene Frances Hinze at Blessed Sacrament Church and later raised five children. He worked at Kansas City Power and Light for 31.5 years before retiring in 1994. Ron was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church for 58 years where he served as a Eucharistic minister, lector, and usher.
Ron was active in his children’s lives and supported their many activities. He coached flag football, boys’ basketball, girls’ softball and was a Boy Scout Webelos leader. Ron was honored to be elected as the Home & School president at St. Gabriel school.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor L. Cutler, and his twin brother, Donald L. Eber.
Ron is survived by his wife of 65 years, Arlene, and five children: Cynthia (Joseph E.) Johannes, Daniel (Valarie) Eber, Kenneth Eber, Linda (Dennis) Kern, and Rhonda (Gregory) Pettibon. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren: Joseph (Andilynn) Johannes, Laura Johannes, Kathryn Johannes, Rebecca Johannes, Zachary (Bethany) Eber, Noah (Melody) Eber, Eli (Megan) Eber, Adelai Eber, Samuel Lathrop, Matthew (Rachel) Eber, Jackson Eber, Megan Kern, Julie (Chris) Brochtrup, Jessica Kern, Emily Pettibon, and Kristen Pettibon. There are also four great-grandchildren: Sophia, Jude, Desmond, and Grant.
Visitation is Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. A private family burial will be held on a later date. Contributions are suggested to St. Gabriel Catholic Church or the parish St. Vincent DePaul Society.
In honor of Ron, his family suggests the wearing of facial masks for services.
