As part of a happy childhood, he delivered newspapers and later worked at a service station to buy his first car for $450. After graduating from Lafayette High School as one of the top three boys in his class, he sold that car for the same price to pay his tuition at Missouri University. A year later he was drafted and served with the US Army during the Korean conflict.
Upon returning home, he met and married LuRay Berger, and later became the proud father of three sons and a daughter. He always enjoyed sharing their growing up years by helping to coach their football teams, participating in Scouts, and being a part of Indian Guide and Indian Princess groups.
His career was spent as a salesman. The two companies he most enjoyed representing were Josten's and Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years and his children: Mike (Avis), Shaun (Kathy), Brent (Pam), and Shannon.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 26th, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, at 11:00 AM. Visitation at 10:00 AM.
