The son of George H. and Virginia Marjorie Patterson, Bob grew up in Braymer, Missouri and attended Braymer C-4 school, graduating in 1963. After high school, he attended William Jewell College, in Liberty, Missouri, and played for the Cardinals football team earning the nickname “Bull” from his teammates. He was a proud member of the Zeta Phi Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, and he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in May, 1967. Bob worked in medical equipment sales for Curtin Matheson Scientific Inc. in Kansas City for many years, and then held various insurance sales positions for Aflac, National Benefits and EOI until his retirement in 2016.
On May 1, 1972, Bob was united in marriage to Vicki Lynn Abbott of Dekalb, Missouri. They made their home in south Kansas City where they raised their twin sons, Michael and Drew. While the boys were growing up he enjoyed coaching their basketball teams, taking them fishing and sharing his love of gardening with them. Bob will always be remembered by many for his love of cooking and showing his love through his food. Bob was an avid golfer and has won many league championships. He will always be a fan of the Chiefs, Royals and sports in general. You could always find at least two TVs in his home showing sports, old westerns and home improvement shows. As the boys got older, got married and gave Bob grandchildren, they became the center of his world. He carried pictures of them wherever he went and was always showing them off. You could find Bob at several of their sporting events and enjoying time with them. His pride and joy of his life were his sons and their families.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vicki in 2006, his parents, George and Marjorie Patterson, his sister Karen Proctor, his uncle Dr. Norman Patterson and aunt Lois Patterson; his mother and father-in-law, James Preston and Gladys Abbott; grandparents Joseph Warren and Carrie (Rupe) Murray; Dr. Henry H.
