Sandpoint, Idaho. Born in Macon, Missouri on May 16, 1927, he was the son of James Leathers
Hall and Bessie Mae Reinier. One of 16 children, he is survived by two of his brothers: Richard
D. Hall of Moberly, Missouri and Bill D. Hall of Macon, Missouri.
Growing up in the 1920s and 1930s, he bore personal witness to the revolutions in modern life wrought by new technologies, such as the radio, the telephone, and the incandescent lightbulb. He also experienced the hardships that attended life amid the Great Depression and the Second World War. Drawing
upon the lessons of these experiences as a young man, Robert set about to begin a family of his
own. In 1945, he married the love of his life, Virginia M. Hall, and the young couple moved to
Kansas City, Missouri. One year later, they had their first of four children.
Preceded in death by his wife and son, Ronald L. Hall.
Robert is survived by his three daughters: Donna J. Holmes of St. George, Utah, Kathy V. Campion of Danville, California, and Karen Battenschlag of Sandpoint, Idaho. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Nicole LaVoie of Williamsport, Pennsylvania and Corey Campion of Middleburg, Maryland.
A successful mechanic, security guard, and business owner, Robert understood the value of hard work and took pride in providing for his family. More importantly, he instilled these values in his children and
grandchildren, making their own lives and families richer for it. While so much about Robert
will be missed, his quick wit and infectious laugh will prove among the most difficult absences
to bear. Until those he leaves behind can smile once again with him in eternity, we can take
comfort in the knowledge that he is at last reunited with his beloved Virginia and their dear son,
Ron. In the meantime, we will strive in gratitude to apply in our own lives the wisdom and
insights he offered from his incredible near century of life. We love you dad, Poppy, Robert!
