Robert James Charlton, age 99, a resident of Leawood, Kansas, passed away December 12, 2012 at The Forum. He was born December 3, 1913 in the Northeast district of Kansas City, Missouri to Edward James and Anna Charlton. Mr. Charlton graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1935. He entered public accounting and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1946. In 1940 he married Nellie Mae Warner, who preceded him in death in December of 2008. He was a member of The American Institute of C.P.A.’s, the Missouri Society of C.P.A.’s, Financial Executives International and the Institute of Management Accountants. He was past President of the Kansas City Chapter of Financial Executives International. He retired in 1978 from Seaboard Allied Milling Corporation after 22 years as Controller. Mr. Charlton is survived by his sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 17, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd.
