He was born in Chesterfield, MO, to parents Norma Lorena Holman-Fowler and Earl Louis Holman. He grew up the eldest brother of Janice Leah Vobornik and Edwin Joseph Holman.
He worked for Milgrams Food Store for 20 years and ended his tenure as a Store Manager. He also worked as a Route Salesman at Butternut Bread for 22 years.
As a devout Baptist, Bob attended Ruskin Heights Baptist Church, and served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher for adult classes, and sang in the choir. He loved preaching at nursing homes on the weekends.
Bob Holman was an avid sports fan, and played golf and bowled on league for most of his life, activities he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was also a skilled fiddler, and banjo player. In his earlier life, he practiced auctioneering. Later in life, after retirement, he loved to color and put together models. He also loved animals, and was the proud dog parent to many pups through the years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his late wife Sylvia Holman, his daughter Sandy Skidgel, and his son Steven E. Smith.
He is survived by: his wife of 22 years, Carole Holman; his siblings, Edwin Holman and Janice Vobornik; his son Robert E. Holman Jr. and his wife Barbara Holman, and their daughters Kaysi Holman and Susi Holman-Roberts and son-in-law Rob Roberts; his daughter Sherri Holman-Green and her partner John Waterman, and son Logan Green; his step-daughter Sonia Crim and her husband David Crim, and their five children and ten grandchildren; his step-daughter Maria Brown and her husband Jeremy, and their two children; and his pride and joy, his dog Cindi Lou Who!
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 30, at 9:00 a.m. at the Floral Hills Funeral Home & Cemetery, located at 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133. The funeral will follow at 10:00 am with Kaysi L. Holman officiating.
Memorial donations in Bob’s memory can be made to the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Wayside Waifs.
