Reverend Frederick Thadeus Allen, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on July 12, 2024. He was born July 4, 1946 in Wilson, North Carolina to William and Lela Allen. Fred was married to Linda on September 23, 1966, and spent nearly 58 years with the love of his life. Fred was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.
Fred was a pastor for more than fifty years which included thirty-two years as the Senior Pastor at the Lee’s Summit Baptist Temple, ten years as an Assistant Pastor at the Kansas City Baptist Temple, and seven years as the Children’s Pastor and Bus Ministry Director at the Florence Baptist Temple in South Carolina. He was known as a generous and loving shepherd that dedicated his life to reaching the lost, discipling believers, and helping missionaries worldwide. He leaves a legacy of love and faith for his family and loved ones.
Before seminary and his time in the ministry, Fred served in the United States Army from 1966-1969 achieving the rank of Sargent (T-E5). During his military tenure, he most enjoyed his time at the White House serving on the Communications Staff for President Lyndon B. Johnson. Fred was a hard-working Carolina farm boy and enjoyed traveling, writing, baseball, tractors, hot rods, photography and reading westerns by Louis L’Amour.
Fred is survived by his sons Duane Allen (wife Teresa) and Chris Allen (wife Susan), three granddaughters Brittany Gitthens (husband Tyler), Tabitha Swartz (husband Nick), and Libby Odofin (husband Olawale), five grandsons Connor Allen (wife McKenzie), Collin Allen (wife Lydia), Thaddaeus Allen, Caleb Allen, and James Pittman, four great-granddaughters Mia, Emilia, Blakely and Piper, and two great-grandsons Billy and Tatum.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 19th from 6:00-8:00pm and funeral Saturday July 20th at 10am (both at Lee’s Summit Baptist Temple, 2416 NW Chipman Road, Lee’s Summit, Missouri). Interment services will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri on Monday, July 22nd at 1pm.
