Paul Ervin Rhoades, 89, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away at home on July 11, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. He was born July 12, 1933 in Princeton, MO to Omer and Irene (Cunningham) Rhoades. Paul married Patricia Goodman on August 31,1957 in Schell City, MO after being set up on a blind date. They resided in the Kansas City area and Kingsville, MO.
Paul served in the Army in the Korean War for two years. He later started Big Boy Burgers in 1962. He also started Paul's Drive In, and Guy's Drive In, later known as Steak Burger Inn, all in the Kansas City, MO area.
Paul was a city farmer raising cattle, chickens and gardening. He enjoyed spending lots of family time on the farm, especially with his grandchildren. Paul was a member of Westridge Christian Church and Independence Chamber of Commerce. Paul was a faithful supporter of Show Me Christian Youth Home.
Paul was predeceased by Parents, Omer and Irene Rhoades. His Siblings, Bill Rhoades, Helen Harris (Homer) and Betty Ritz (Leroy). Son, Thomas Rhoades and Grandson, Derek Rhoades.
Paul is survived by his wife, Patricia Rhoades. Daughter, Diane Cox (Kevin). Son, Jeff Rhoades (Paula). Daughter in law, Lisa Rhoades. Grandchildren, Justin Rhoades (Rachel), Tricia Hall (Matt), Emily Oxendine (Brian), Jennifer Rhoades, Jessica Rhoades, Brian Cox (Trever Sissel). Great grandchildren, Annabelle and Elena Rhoades, Colton and Madelyn Hall, Daisy and Violet Oxendine. Sister in law's, Jean Watson and Norma Rhoades.
Visitation will be on July 31, 2023 at 10-11am with a service following at 11am at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO 64133. Burial will be at Floral Hills East Cemetery.
