Patricia Ann Howard passed away peacefully on July 13, 2022, in the company of family. Patricia was born on June 21, 1933, in Sterling, KS, to her parents, Stanley C. Stout and Sophia A. Stout. She graduated from Bazine High School in Bazine, KS, in 1951. She had a long career as a teacher starting with just a teaching certificate in a one-room schoolhouse. She would go on to hold a B.S. in Education, Master’s Degree in Education and a Specialist’s Degree in Reading and Learning Disabilities from Emporia State University. She was honored as a KS Master Teacher and traveled with People to People in a teacher exchange to Estonia and Latvia.
Patricia met her husband, William W. Howard, at choir practice, while they attended Ottawa University. They were married on August 16, 1953. They enjoyed singing throughout their marriage. She was a long-time active member of Order of the Eastern Star and PEO Sisterhood. She was known for her outstanding baking, painting, quilting and wood carving.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, William; son, Alan Howard; grandson, Ben Howard; granddaughter Jane (Brian) Delano; daughter, Valerie (Vincent) Burke; grandson, Joseph (Leigh) Burke; great grandsons, JR and Thomas Burke; grandson, W. Michael (Hilary) Burke; great grandson Asher; and her sister, June Williford; sister-in-law, Sharon (Joseph) Schutz; nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.
A memorial service will be held on July 29, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO 64145.
