Norma Lee White (née McKay) passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 20, 2022, in Prairie Village, Kansas. Norma was born in Independence, Missouri, in 1933. Despite their opposing views about the Tigers versus the Jayhawks, Norma married the love of her life, Vernon White, in 1980. Their enviably joyful union continued until Vern’s death in 2004. Norma was a notoriously avid reader and card player. She was never one to pass up a lively and respectful conversation about politics. Perhaps most in life, she loved being a grandmother. Or, to quote Norma, she loved her grandchildren the “mostest, mostest, mostest.” Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, her parents, John and Oma McKay, her brother, John McKay, her sister, Kate Nixon. Norma is survived by her sister, Carol Kempster (Graham Kempster), her children Denise Morris, Chris Beever (Lilli Zarda), and Kevin Beever (Laura Beever), her grandchildren Jessica Beever, Libby Denman (Troy Denman), Phil Connealy (Amy Connealy), Sam Beever (Elianne Hakim), Zack Morris (Kim Morris), Kaitlin Brendel (Dan Brendel), Matthew Beever, and Hayden Beever, and her nine great-grandchildren. Please wear your favorite Mizzou shirt in her honor this week. A visitation will take place on Monday, February 28, 2022, at 1 p.m., followed immediately by memorial services at 2 p.m. Both will occur at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or Planned Parenthood.
