Nicholas J. Brummel of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away February 17, 2020.
Nick was born in Kansas City in 1923 to Nicholas C. and Josephine (Meyer) Brummel. They lived in the Northeast District. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. He graduated from Northeast High School, and at the age of 20, joined the Army. He was in World War II, marching in Normandy. When he returned home he married Mary Helen Baker. They had three children, Cheryl, Steve, and Janet; seven grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
Nick worked for the Rock Island Railroad, which became Union Pacific later on. He retired at age 60, after 30 years. Nick and Mary were married 73 years. They went on many bus tour trips and enjoyed a great retirement.
