She was born August 11, 1936, in Kansas City, MO to Mr. and Mrs. John H. Goertz Sr.
Grew up in Kansas City, MO and went to Northeast High School through her junior year, then graduated from St. Johns Academy in Winfield, Kansas.
She was a loving mother, grand mother and a great grandmother, and wife.
She moved to Arizona in 1994 and lived there until March of 2005, moved back to Independence and remained there until her passing.
She was a member of St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church in Independence, MO was one of the co-founders of the Leaven Ministry, and a member of the St. Joseph Society.
She was a Eucharistic minister and belonged to the Alter and Rosary society at her church.
She shared chairmanship with her husband one year chairing the festival of their church
She was also a member and on the board as secretary of the PTA at Elm Grove School where her children attended elementary school. She was also a Club Scout Den Mother while out in Arizona attended ST. Catherines Catholic Church and was secretary of the church council and a member of the lady’s group there.
She was married to Richard E Gibson Sr. on May 27th, 1956, for 68 years. They were soulmates.
Everyone knew how much her family meant to her and her church family and friends and how she liked to party with them. She would go out of her way to do for her family and friends and loved working at the church.
Preceding her in death Son Richard (Rick) E. Gibson Jr, mother and father Ella and John Goertz, brother John H. Goertz Jr, and a great granddaughter Lauren Lockard.
She is survived by her husband Richard, daughter Roxanna Starr/ Rader and her husband Bub, Son James Christopher Gibson, his wife Robin, and Stephen Paul Gibson, his wife Sherrie. Five granddaughters, Stacey Starr, Nicole Hudson, Brooke Wily, Lacy Gibson, all of Independence. Kristen Wilde of Excelsior Springs. Four great granddaughters, Nicollette Lockard, Faith Lockard, Alexus Wily, of Independence, Alyvia Starr and six great grandsons Trae, Nichalos Wily, Jericho Hudson, and Jayden Farrow of Independence. Maclen Starr Sage and Jacobe and one great granddaughter Brielle Frazier of Independence. Some sisters in laws, one brother-in-law and lots of nieces and nephews
Visitation and Funeral service will be held December 2, 2024
Visitation will be at 1pm and Funeral service 2 pm followed by graveside
