Nancy Lorene Finley, 84 years old, was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Robert and Lorene Bruce. She attended East High School on Van Brunt. Nancy started her career at the early age of 16 as an order taker for Sears and then became a customer service representative. She was a faithful employee at Sears for 47 years and retired at age 63.
Nancy married her high school sweetheart, George Arthur Finley, in September of 1955. George attended Central High School. Over the years they had six children. Oldest is Debra (DeeDee) Finley; Clyde and his wife Janet who sadly are both deceased; Vickie Saysoff (Bud) from Raytown; Sheila Hart (John is deceased); Helen Randolph (David) from Mountain View, Missouri; and Roxanne Finley. They had 15 grandchildren and many, many great-grandchildren.
She and George loved sports. They were Chiefs season ticket holders and loved to watch the Royals. Every free moment they spent going to the sports and school events of their children, and then grandchildren.
Nancy loved family, as well as extended family. Sundays she would prepare a big dinner and invite all family members, including aunts, uncles and cousins as well as neighbors.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lorene Bruce; her beloved husband George; her brother, Edward Frans; sister Ella Mae Igo; sister Elma Price; Nancy’s twin brother Robert Bruce; and brother Harry Bruce. Nancy was the last remaining sibling in her family. The family also lost one beloved grandchild, Tanya Finley.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home. Funeral service and burial will be Thursday, 2:00 PM at Mt. Moriah.
