Michael John Messina, age 83, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2023. Mike was born and grew up in Kansas City and attended St. Elizabeth Catholic School and Rockhurst High School. He went on to study accounting and law at the University of Notre Dame, then worked for several firms before starting his own estate and tax planning practice in Kansas City in the 1980s.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Santa (Gargotta) Messina; and his daughter, Dianna (Messina) McMahon. He leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Donna (Taylor) Messina; and their four children, Andrea Messina, Melissa (Messina) Fife, Chris Messina, and Cynthia Messina. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Katherine King, Isabella McMahon, Michael Fife, and Esme Fife. They were the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Judy, and her husband, Pete Haley; and a niece and nephew.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Visitation Catholic Church, 5141 Main St., Kansas City, MO 64112. There will be a visitation service before the mass starting at 9:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Visitation Parish or Mike's favorite charity, the National Rifle Association.
