Melvin Hatley, 87, passed away at his residence, April 22, 2017. Graveside Service will be 1pm, Friday, April 28, 2017, at Floral Hills. Visitation will be 6-8pm, Thursday evening. Melvin was born in 1929, in Green County, Arkansas, to Aaron Manley and Myrtle Hatcher. He graduated from William Chrisman High School and joined the R.O.T.C. program, later enlisting in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He revisited his job at Milgram’s Grocery Store, working his way up to being store manager. Mel’s next job was at Lake City driving a fork truck. For the past 25 years, Mel was an ordained minister presiding over wedding ceremonies, while being the owner of Village Donuts in Raytown from 1996-2000. Mel was preceded in death by his son, Rick. Survivors include his sons: Larry, Chris and Brandon. He was a grandfather and great grandfather. Memorial tributes may be directed to Wounded Warrior Project.
