She was born on June 19th, 1929 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Claudie and Faye (Skaggs) Day. She was the oldest of two children. Mary went to Westport High School and graduated in 1947.
She married Billy Bob Timberlake on July 10, 1947. She was blessed with two children: Carrie and William. She lived in the Kansas City area for most of her life. Mary worked at Old American insurance for 39 years.
Mary took care of her husband Bill, mother Faye who lived with her for many years and her brother, and she never once complained. She took great-grandchildren to preschool going over the hill and through the woods. She moved to Bonner springs her last years into a senior living apartment and made countless friends. Then in the last few years, Carrie took charge to take care of her mother for many countless hours every day, as did other family members to relieve her of these duties.
Mary Lou was the sweetest woman; she was sometimes ornery. That is what everyone loved about her. Mary has meant so much so many people. It is so difficult to capture 91 years of Grandma. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always asking them “what’s new” or some other little saying.
She leaves a legacy of how we should all live and love. In this crazy world we currently live in, be like Mary Lou. The biggest thing we will miss is when our birthdays come around and she will not be calling. She called every year and sang happy birthday and then apologized for her singing, it was the greatest gift every year.
She was preceded in death by: her parents Claudie and Faye Day, her husband Bill, her brother Morgan, her son-in-law Jim, her daughter-in-law Pennie and her great-grandson Kody. Mary will also be fondly remembered by her 5 grandchildren: Scott Delaney, Kevin Timberlake, Crista Delaney Caldwell (Scott), Emily Timberlake Kirchhoff (Monte), Sarah Timberlake-Vier.
