Born January 30, 1925, Mary celebrated 97 years of family, friends, and fun.
A social butterfly, Mary had many hobbies that kept her in good company with friends. In the 1960s, she took up running, completing dozens of marathons all over the country. Running took her an array of places, from running through the mountains of Anchorage to completing her favorite race at the age of 70, the New York City Marathon. She greatly improved her time and expanded her love for the sport with local running clubs, and it was rare for her to miss a major local race. In 2015, at the age of 90, Mary ran her last 5k with her family at the Ward Parkway Thanksgiving Day Run.
Mary was also an avid fan of the local blues and jazz scene, and could regularly be found at the bar at BB’s Lawnside BBQ listening to her favorite local bands, Mama Ray, and Junebug and the Porch Lights. Mary also frequented Coach’s Bar and Grill for Chiefs and Royals games, as well as Freddy T’s and the Daily Limit. A stranger to no one, she was also known to hang out with the much younger crowds in Westport or the Power and Light District for St. Patrick’s Day or Cinco de Mayo parties.
Mary is survived by her children, Ronnie Nass (Quita), and Debbie Robb; grandchildren Summer Medina (Henry), Liz Robison, Sadie Robb (Christian), Jonathan Nass (Laura), and Jamie Nass; as well as great-grandchildren Haley Medina, Cody Medina, and Conrad Mancinelli.
The visitation for Mary will be held at noon on Saturday, December 17, 2022, with service to follow, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home.
