Mary Lee Lewis Wilson of Kansas City, Missouri left this life on March 11, 2012 at the Kansas City Hospice House. She was 84. Mary Lee was born to James Clair Travis and Mary Elizabeth Yost Travis in Kansas City on February 5, 1928. She attended Kansas City schools and graduated from Central High School in 1945. She added to her education at Kansas City Junior College and Baker University in Baldwin, Kansas where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority and was an active member throughout her life. Mary Lee was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for over 30 years before retiring from an area manager personnel position in 1987. She was active in civic affairs as well, having served on the board of the Kansas City Women’s Chamber of Commerce, the Missouri State Chamber of Commerce where she was a member of the Education Foundation and the Altrusa Club. In 1984 she served as president of the Gleed Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She is survived by her husband Jay B. Wilson; children Jim and Pam Lewis of Ireton, Iowa, Jody and Phil Anderson of Independence, John Lewis and Patty of Kansas City; stepdaughter Barbara Wilson of New York; and sister Betty Burns of Gresham, Oregon. Also surviving are grandchildren Jessica Christensen, husband Jared and their children Corinna, McKenna, Cash, Seth and Brianna of New Castle, Utah, Andrew Lewis of Colorado Springs and Neil Lewis of Overland Park, Kansas, Todd Mountjoy of Blue Springs, Paige Lewis of Westwood Hills and Courtney Lewis of Lee’s Summit. Buster, her much loved Jack Russell Terrier, who visited her daily at Hospice. She was preceded in death by her daughter Jane Mountjoy in 1997. Mary Lee was a kind and friendly person who enjoyed life and enriched her family and numerous friends with her presence. She loved pets and children and contributed generously to their welfare. Visitation will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. followed by memorial services at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road.
