Mary “Margie” Margaret Hines, age 91, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2020. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 13th at 11:00 AM, with a Visitation starting at 9:30 AM, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 919 NE 96th St, Kansas City, MO 64155. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
Margie was born on September 10, 1928 to parents John and Veronica “Fronie” Ludolph in Brimfield, IL. She was one of nine children.
Margie met Howard Hines, the love of her life, in 1947. They were married two years later at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo, IL. Upon Howard’s discharge from the Air Force and after college, the family relocated to Kansas City in 1956. During that time, they were blessed with 5 children. They were married 70 years.
Margie was very active in her church. She enjoyed singing in the choir, working with the Saint Joseph women’s group and as a communion minister, taking communion to people in the hospital. She also volunteered at the ARC thrift store for over 30 years. She was dedicated to her family and friends and was always there to lend a helping hand. Her smile and humor could light up a room, with her welcoming heart she always made everyone feel at home. Marge was always available to provide love, help, caring and wise council for any of her children or grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, sewing and fishing.
Margie is survived by her husband Howard; her children: Mike Hines (Vickie), Lori Palmer (Jim), Bruce Hines (Jeanie), Tina Branstetter (Rick), Steve Hines; her sisters: Pearl Yaunk and Helen Catton; 12 grandchildren, 20 Great-grandchildren, 35 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary V., and her five brothers, Ed, Ben, Bob, Jerry and Howard; and grandson, Mark Branstetter.
Donations can be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Holy Family Catholic Church.
