Mary Kay was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 16, 1941 to John A. Hilderbrand and Katie Mae Hilderbrand (Carpenter). She was the youngest of the children having an older brother Bob G. Hilderbrand and older sisterLucy Ann Turgeon (Hilderbrand).
She graduated from Paseo High School in 1960. Mary Kay then worked for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator in 1960-1964.
Mary Kay married James D. Carter on June 13, 1964. She was a homemaker, as her Husband and his father (Lynnwood Carter) founded Carter Equipment Company 1963-1995. Mary Kay was mother to Brenda K. Carter, Sharon L. Carter, and the twins, John D. Carter and Jamie D. (Husband: Kenny J.) Smith (Carter). They raised their children with love and devotion in Overland Park, Kansas.
She went to Nursing School and worked at the Forum of Overland Park and Manor Care Nursing Home for almost 20 years. She loved working there and providing the love and care for her residents.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother; and her son.
She is survived by her three girls; her sister; two grandchildren, Brandon J. Carter and Carley M. Hedges (Carter) and a great grandson, Crimsin Shaut.
Her Celebration of Life will be held at Floral Hill's Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd. Kansas City, Missouri 64133 on Saturday March 12, 2022. Visitation starts at 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ozanam Homes for Boys can be made in Mary Kay Carter's name.
