Marty was born on May 5, 1957, in Fort Riley, Kansas to Billy and Nadine. He grew up in Waldron, Arkansas and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1979 with degree in industrial engineering. Marty married Ceriln in 1979. After moving to Longview, Texas, Marty began working for the Lone Star Steel Company as an engineer. Over their several years in Texas, the couple welcomed Melissa, Daniel, and Rebecca into their home. His children fondly recall his joyful smile, jokes, laughter, and strong work ethic. Marty was generous with his time and talents in helping others with home repairs.
