Martha Jean Stanley Jackson passed away July 9, 2011 surrounded by her loving Family. She was born December 9, 1925 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Charles M and Nona C Stanley. She attended Redemptorist Grade School , graduated Redemptorist High School in 1942. She also attended Rockhurst College where she studied accounting.
In 1944, Marty went to Washington DC with her sister, Kathleen Stanley, to work for the war department where she met her future husband, Adran Carrol (Andy) Jackson.
After World War II ended, they returned to Kansas City, MO and were married Febuary 16, 1946 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Marty was a lifelong Catholic and was a member of St. Peter’s and St. Thomas More Churches. She was a member of the financial committee and More Friends at STM.
She previously worked in Medical records at Menorah Medical Center, at Herbert V. Jones, and retired from the Army Corps of Engineers in 1984.
She was preceded in death by her husband Andy and their infant son, John. Her survivors include Mary V. (Ginny) and Ken Goldman, Judy A Rush, Eileen and Doug Brown, Cary and Heather Shinn Jackson, Sharon Evans, Martin S. Jackson, JoAnn and Gary Lathrop, Tim and Laura Jackson, Teresa M. (Terry) and John Rothfield, Daniel and Cathy Jackson, 22 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Bernadine M. Stanley and Marie Jackson Haught, and many nieces and nephews.
Heartfelt thanks to longtime caregivers, Fionah Kimeu, Kim Runyan, Wendy Marconett, Brandy Prince and especially, Margaret Clardy, who was also the primary caregiver for Andy Jackson prior to his death in 1997.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Catholic Community Hospice. Visitation will be held Monday, July 11th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO, where the rosary will be prayed at 6:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, July 12th, 9:00 am at Redemptorist Catholic Church, 3333 Broadway, Kansas City, MO 64111.
