A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, when her family, friends, and church congregation can all be together.
Virginia Marie Hilton was born September 7th, 1930, in Martin City, now a part of Kansas City, Missouri. She married the love of her life, Jack Hilton, and they enjoyed over 53 years of marriage before Jack’s passing in 2004. Through the years they square danced, ran a wood craft shop, created quilts, and traveled extensively. They were very active at Red Bridge United Methodist Church, where Marie contributed her beautiful soprano voice to the chancel choir and participated in the Dorcas Circle and bible study group. She was the person who had been a member of that church the longest, including the years at Martin City before the congregation moved to Red Bridge.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Ward (Bob) of Overland Park, Kansas, her son Don Hilton (Lori) of Blue Springs, Missouri, her daughter Julia Purnell (Paul) of Grandview, Missouri, her grandchildren Karen Arokiasamy (Eugene) of Overland Park, Kansas, David Ward (Angela) of Olathe, Kansas, Scott Hilton (Cindy) of Liberty, Missouri, Patrick Hilton (Kelsey) of Greenwood, Missouri, Elizabeth Morrow (Aaron) of Blue Springs, Missouri, Tayler Purnell and fiancé Garrison Vaughan of Kansas City, Missouri, and Brooke Purnell, currently living in Galway, Ireland, and her great-grandchildren Eve Ward, Sawyer Ward, Bennett Ward, Clark Arokiasamy, Ashlyn Hilton, Harper Hilton, Makayla Hilton, and Hailey Hilton.
Marie was a sweet and kind soul. Her family and friends were blessed to know her. Although we hadn't finished with her yet, she was ready for her journey. She is a new member of the Heavenly choir and joins the saints.
The family requests memorial contributions to Red Bridge United Methodist Church, 636 East 117th Street, Kansas City, MO 64131, 816-941-0112.
