Her main interests in life were kids, work, cars, and travel. She fully enjoyed them all. Ms. Johnson and her late husband, Dean Johnson owned and operated Dean Johnson Ford, beginning in 1969 when they purchased Mick Motors from Bob Mick in downtown Plattsburg.
Their business continued to be a hub of activity in downtown Plattsburg until the late 1980s, when they decided to move and build a new location at the intersection of 116 and 169 Highways, six miles west of Plattsburg. They both retired in 1996 when they sold the dealership to Dennis and Candy Sneed.
Margie met her future husband when they were both working at Owens Illinois Company in North Kansas City. Their marriage lasted 50 years until his death July 21, 2021. After working as employees, Dean’s passion for purchasing and selling cars led them to purchase their own Ford dealership in Plattsburg.
As a business owner, she enjoyed a well-earned reputation as smart and hardworking. As a mother, she was active in several local organizations including the local PTA, President of the National PTA, and Chamber of Commerce. Not one to seek recognition, she worked behind the scenes to contribute to various worthwhile charities.
She and her husband enjoyed the benefits of operating a successful business winning several Ford-sponsored contests. The recipe for their success - she ran the business office and Dean sold cars. The result was winning several trips, which they both enjoyed and gathered memorabilia from those trips.
Margie was born February 1, 1942 to Marie and Edward Stanton. Margie was raised by her mother and stepdad, Tony Flood, and graduated from high school in St. Louis, Missouri.
