Mackie Lee Newman Sr.

Mackie was born on June 10, 1940 in Northmoor, Missouri to Mack and Florence Newman. Mackie married Barbara Downey, in 1960. Mackie began working for Paxton Lumber Company Jan 11, 1968. The couple had 2 children, Mackie Lee Newman Jr. and Colleen Doctorian. His family remembers him as kind and driven. He was very supportive and always there for his family and friends. Mackie loved hunting and fishing and trained numerous championship coon hounds. He was also an accomplished carpenter. Mackie loved baseball and coached youth baseball for many years. He was very active and supportive of his children and grandchildren’s activities. He was an accomplished gardener, and enjoyed his many farm activities.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Melvin and wife Roberta, his sister Nancy and husband Tom Collier, his brother Jackie, and his brother-in-law Eugene “Gino” Douthit.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, his children Mackie Jr. (Doreen) and Colleen (Richard), his grandchildren, Dreau, Madison, and Mason, great-grandchildren, Oliver and Della, his sister Patricia “Cookie” Douthit, sister-in-law Shelia Newman, brother-in-laws Brian (Cheryl) Downey and Nelson Downey in addition to many other family and friends.

Celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, October 12th at 2pm at Brew Top North. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mackie's life.
