Lujean was born to Harlmon Thomas and Nellie Venita (Huff) Martin in Oklahoma City, OK on October 23, 1943. After graduating from Manual High School in 1961, she went on to marry Alvin Kelly. To this union, two children were born, Aaron and Venita. Lujean later met and married John King, Sr., They spent 15+ years together, spending most of their time living in California.
A lifelong learner, Lujean continued her pursuit for knowledge at the University of Phoenix where she majored in Business and earned her Bachelor’s degree in 1987. After a successful career in business administration she retired and found a new niche working as a substitute teacher for the Kansas City and Center school districts. Her unique talent for combining school lessons, humor and essential life skills made her popular among her students with whom she left a lasting impression.
Lujean accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and savior and loved her church family at Trinity Temple. She was involved in activities throughout the community and made friends everywhere she went. Lujean balanced her outgoing, comedic personality with an air of confidence that commanded respect. She loved her family and cherished her grandchildren Delvin Benford, Aaron Kelly, Jr., Christina Jones, Marissa Jones and Nia Jones.
She was preceded in death by her father Harlmon Martin, stepfather Nathaniel Revoal, and brother, Junius Earl Revoal.
She leaves to cherish, her mother Nellie Revoal; children Aaron Kelly, Sr. (Twyla) and Venita Jones (Ron); her siblings Sharon Singleton, Wali Mutazamil, Marvin Revoal (Darby), Natalie McArthur (Sandy), Natasha Turner (Loren), along with her grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held as follows: Visitation 10:30 a.m., Memorial Services 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 28, Trinity Temple C.O.G.I.C., 11922 Food Lane, Grandview, MO 64030. Committal Service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Mount Moriah Cemetery South, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131.
