Leland was born March 28, 1941, in Independence, MO to Leonard Bernard Crowl and Sophronia Florilla (Tousley) Crowl. He graduated from Lowry City Consolidated High School. After proudly serving in the United States Army, he married Joyce Dee Crowl on April 8, 1967, in Kansas City, MO. Leland worked most his life as a diesel mechanic. He was a big Kansas City Chief's and Royals fan; enjoyed flying small aircraft, fishing, and cooking for his family and friends. Leland could not pass up the opportunity of telling jokes or a story to friends or strangers. He had a great love for his family, friends and Jesus.
Leland is survived by his daughter Judy Dee Hood (Dusty), Fort Scott, KS, two sons, Leland "Scott" Crowl and Robert Allen Crowl of the home; five grandsons, Michael K. Nighswonger (Allison) of Fort Scott, KS; Nathaniel S. Hood of Joplin,MO; Thomas J. Nighswonger (Caitlin) of Bremerton, WA; Jacob A. Hood of Carl Junction, MO; Brian T. Nighswonger (Antoinette) of Fort Scott, KS; infant great grandson, AshLee "Ash" T. Nighswonger; and sister Lola McDonald of Independence, MO.
In addition to his parents, Leland was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Crowl; a son Kenneth Crowl; a brother, Leonard B. Crowl, a sister, Rilla L. Alexander; Guy F. Crowl;
A Celebration of Life will be held at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, Kansas City, MO, Saturday, February 18, 2023, from 5 to 7pm.
