Larry Parks, 85, of Raytown passed away June 24, 2024. He was born June 20, 1939 in Kansas City, MO to Mary Elizabeth (nee Witter) & C. Bernal Parks. Larry graduated from Raytown High School & chose to make Raytown his home. He loved history, and often embodied a lifestyle befitting a modern day frontiersman; Larry particularly enjoyed black powder firearms, the outdoors, & building cabins with his friends. He often helped out at the Pioneer Gun Club where he was a member, along with being a member of the Fort Osage Muzzleloaders , and the NRA. He was a leader for scout troop 145 and twice went to Boy Scout Camp in Philmont, NM, once with his son.
As a teen, Larry worked at Justrite grocery store in Raytown. He later worked for Olin, Lake City until he retired April 1, 1995.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy Kay Parks; his 3 children: Shari Kay Parks, Philip Dean Parks (Sheila), and Kelly Lynn Burchett (John); and his 3 grandsons: Garrett Thomas Burchett (Shanika), Jacob Tucker Burchett, and Damien Ryan McNeff.
Services will be held at Dignity Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. Visitation will be held between 1-3pm with a graveside service following.
