Joseph R. Martinez, 49, of Kansas City, MO passed away on June 18, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born on Jan. 20, 1964 in Kansas City, MO to Henry L. Martinez, Sr. and Kathleen J. Walsh Martinez. He lived for his nieces and nephews and loved sports, especially baseball. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, James and Margaret Walsh. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Alicia Fidelman (Wayne), Michael Martinez (Laura), Henry Martinez Jr. (Leann), Mark Martinez (Melissa), Michelle Muniz (Juan). Despite his illness Joseph was the toughest man we have ever known.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23 at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Reception to follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine, 901 Cesar Chavez, KCMO.
