Jack Peacock, 89, of Kansas City, MO passed away July 17, 2011. A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 pm Monday July 25th at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home, with visitation preceding services 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Burial in Mount Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery. The family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association.
Jack was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from East High School where he met his future wife Opal Faye Marler. Jack and Faye married on April 4, 1942 and had three children. Jack was shipped overseas in May of 1943. He was a Staff Sergeant in the 78th AAF Division where he was the lead Cryptographer in the Counter Intelligence Division of the China, India, Burma Campaign. In November of 1945 Jack was discharged from active duty and returned to Kansas City. Jack and Faye settled in to the married life in Kansas City that was disrupted by WW II. They were both active members of the First Baptist Church in NKC. Jack was a member of the American Legion, Scottish Rite, the 40/8 and was active in all their programs including nursing education, the children's home and cystic fibrosis foundation. Jack was Grand Chef de Gare du Missouri of the 40/8 from 1968 - 1969. He served for many years as the International Sales Manager of Jesco Resources - the corporation from which he retired. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Bertha Byrd Peacock and his wife, Opal Faye Marler Peacock. Survivors include his son, John Lawrence Peacock, daughter, Dianne P. Dickenson, and husband, Doug, daughter, Mary Elizabeth Wiggins, and husband, Kip, four grandchildren, Kristin LaVigne, and husband, Jason, David West, Molly Simpson, and husband, Benjamin, Matthew Wiggins, and wife, Amanda, and two great grandchildren, Joy Simpson and Noah LaVigne.
