John Gwin

John David Gwin, 74, of Kansas City, MO passed away November 5, 2011. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 8th at McGilley Antioch Chapel from 6:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 9th at Platte Woods United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at East Slope Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Platte Woods United Methodist Church or Platte Senior Services Inc.

John was born January 20, 1937 in Dawn, MO to Francis and Mary Gwin. He was a 1954 graduate of Chillicothe High School. John was a member of the Alpha Gama Sigma fraternity at the University of Missouri where he earned a bachelors’ degree in Agriculture in 1958. John worked for International Multifoods as a grain buyer. John was also the President of Platte Senior Service Inc. and helped with Meals on Wheels. He was also involved with many other organizations and charities.

John was preceded in death by his father, Francis Gwin and mother, Mary Gwin. Survivors include his wife Joanne, of 52 years; two children, Suzanne (Brian) McGeary, John F. Gwin; three grandchildren, Shannon, Patrick, Matthew and brother, Clark Gwin.
