John was born June 2, 1922 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of John Edward Sr. and Louise Matilda (Eber) Bell.
He was a very family oriented man and took care of his family with pride. He also enjoyed going fishing with his family or his friends, whoever was available. John loved the outdoors and nature itself. For several years he grew and nurtured many beautiful species of exotic roses. He raised hundreds of parakeets and people came from miles to buy them from him. He loved all animals, wild & domestic.
John was a machinist at Bendix from where he retired. He had special skills in machine workings and that led him to designing and building cap and ball guns in the lower level of our home. He was a member of the Fort Osage Muzzle Loaders Gun Club where he was Statewide Champ and then he won 2nd place Statewide two years in a row.
John joined the U.S. Army in 1941 and worked through the ranks to become a Sergeant. John earned five Campaign Ribbons and the Good Conduct Medal.
YES! John was a heck of a good man.
He was preceded in death by his wife and is survived by his daughter Denise Toman, extended family and friends.
