Joe L. “Pepe” Fierro, 83 of the Westside of Kansas City, MO died Monday, October 6, 2014 at Cypress Springs Alzheimer’s and Memory Support Residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 13, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine, 901 Cesar Chavez Avenida, Kansas City, MO. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, KS. Visitation will be Sunday, October 12, 2014 6-8 p.m. at The Shrine, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. The family request contributions to either Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine or the Alzheimer’s Association, 3846 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
Pepe was born March 29, 1931 in Marfa, TX to Jesus Cortes and Sista Lujan. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a Staff Sergeant at his discharge. After the war, Pepe was a canvas fabricator for Beaumont Manufacturing. He never missed a day of work. He later became a member of Sheet Metal Workers #2 while working for Tempmaster. After retiring, he became a driver for the Guadalupe Center’s Senior Citizens Program. Pepe will be remembered for his patience under pressure and his strong work ethic. Pepe was preceded in death by his wife Maria in 1997 and a brother, Jose’ Ramirez, Jr. His survivors include four children, Irene Muñoz (John), Gloria Fierro, Joseph Fierro, Jr. and John Fierro (Loretta) all of the Kansas City area; one brother, Eusebio Ramirez (Lupe); one sister, Mary Briseño; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
