Jason William FOSTER

Jason W. Foster graduated from Shawnee Mission West HighSchool and DeVry University. He took an interest in technology and it later served as his career. Jason started working as a line cook at Applebee’s from 1996-2004. He then moved from behind the fire to the corporate world behind the computer. He served as an Analyst, Help Desk Supervisor, Programmer/ System Administrator at Applebee’s from 2003-2016. Jason joined the Federal Reserve Bank in 2016 and quickly became a subject matter expert on his team. He had a passion for learning and was always looking for ways to help his teammates. Jason was promoted to a technology Solutions Administrator Senior in August of 2021.

In Jason’s spare time he enjoyed spending time with his two dogs, Jack and Kate. He would take them everywhere and was passionate about animal adoption. Jason was a huge fan of sports. He enjoyed playing baseball as a kid where his grandfather attended every game. He liked the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and most importantly the Kansas Jayhawks. Jason loved to play video games on his Playstation.

Jason built strong close relationships with co-workers that turned into lasting friendships. They felt close to him and considered him family. Jason used his humor to make these connections. Jason was quick to make new employees feel comfortable and welcome. He was also well known for participating in the Kansas City Corporate Challenge while working at both Applebee’s and the Federal Reserve Bank. He loved the Tug of War event and was always willing to participate in other events where teams needed people such as Softball, Flag Football, Volleyball, and Bowling. Jason went to several concerts, traveling with his buddy Chad up the East Coast in his Toyota Corolla to over 60 shows of Phish. He also enjoyed Blues, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, New Orleans Jazz Fest, and most recently country music concerts like Eric Church.

Jason also enjoyed getting away to the family lake house at the Lake of the Ozarks at Dogwood Point. He loved to bring his dogs, go fishing, and enjoy the peace and quiet. Jason also loved the home cooked meals his mother made complete with plenty of leftovers for him to take home. Thanksgiving was also an important time for him to gather with family for a good home cooked meal prepared by his mother with all his favorites.

Jason W. Foster was born in Kansas City, Kansas and was the son of Sharon R. Foster. He will be joining those who passed before him, his mother (Sharon R. Foster), his grandparents (Woody and Elsie Woodward), his two sisters (Kimberly Jean Foster and Teresa Marie VanDeVyvere), and other loved ones. He survived through his niece Danielle Marie VanDeVyvere and her father Michael, extended family, friends, co-workers, and with his multitude of cousins on Sharon’s side.

A visitation will be held from 1-2:30pm, with burial to follow, on Saturday, December 17, at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO.
