Janet Marie Butler

Janet Marie Dotson-Butler, a resident of Raytown, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on July 10, 2023, at the age of 55. She fought bravely against glioblastoma brain cancer, showing unwavering faith and strength. Janet was born in Sedalia, MO, and was the loving daughter of Alice Ellen Blaylock-Dotson-Bruehl and the late Larry Joseph Dotson. She was predeceased by her brother, Larry Alan Dotson, and stepfather, Albert William Bruehl. Surviving her are her beloved husband, Todd Butler, and their children: Jon Tyler Butler (wife Tabitha), Natalie Kaye Butler-Hill (husband Terrance), Lindsey Marie Butler-Powell (husband Mitchell), and Kylie Grace Butler. She is also survived by her brother, Steven Michael Dotson (wife Adonica) of Maumelle, AR.

A celebration of Janet's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church in Sedalia, MO. Leading the service will be Mrs. Sharon Alexander and Reverend Todd Butler. Prior to the celebration, there will be a visitation at the church at 1:00 PM. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Newcomer’s Floral Hills Funeral Home of Kansas City, MO.

The family deeply appreciates the overwhelming support they have received from friends and family during this challenging time. They would also like to extend their gratitude to Ascend Hospice of Lee's Summit, MO, for their exceptional care and professionalism during Janet's final month. Janet will be remembered for her unwavering faith and her role as a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.
