The Mass of Christian Burial is 11:30 AM Tuesday, December 13th, with visitation beginning at 10:30 AM, at Church of the Good Shepherd, 18601 N 169th Hwy, Smithville, MO; inurnment will be at a later date in the Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon, MO. Contributions are suggested to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
Jim was born November 29, 1947 in Lamar, MO to Charles and Betty (Beeny) Castor. During his childhood he spent many summers with his grandparents in Sheldon where he made many friends and had fond memories. In 1966 Jim graduated from Liberty High School and in 1970 from the Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg. Following graduation he served in the U.S. Army.
In 1969 he married Pamela Bowman. They had two children, Eric and Cindy and the family resided from 1975-1995 in Gower, MO. Then they moved to Smithville where they still reside. Jim was employed as an industrial electrical salesman in the Kansas City area for most of his life before retiring. Jim enjoyed trout fishing at Roaring River, playing billiards and buying and selling pool cues. He also had a special love of horses, motorcycles, and Native American artifacts.
Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pam; two children Eric and wife, Melinda Castor, and Cindy and husband, Glin Woods; 5 grandchildren: Devin Woods, Alli, Cody, Ben and Dylan Castor; a great granddaughter, Isla Woods; sister, Betty Sue and husband, Don Boone.
