Helen Ratcliffe Ruiz

Helen R. Ruiz, 69, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away March 14, 2012 at St. Joseph Medical Center. Visitation will be from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 16, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4101 E. 105th Terrace. Private burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery South. Helen was born September 15, 1942 in Tacloban, Philippines, daughter of Conrad Gabriente and Anelita (Baldesco) Ratcliffe. She graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a BS in Psychology. On June 12, 1966 she married Alfonso L. Ruiz, II. She was a member of St. Thomas More Parish. Helen was also a member of the Altar Society at Our Lady of Peace. She loved gardening and spending time with her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents. Helen is survived by her husband Alfonso L. Ruiz, II of the home; her daughter Tina and husband Michael Romberg of Frankfort, Illinois; son RJ and wife Mary Ruiz of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; daughter Ann Marie and husband Daniel Sanchez of Granite City, Illinois; grandchildren Andrew, Justin, Ashley, Lauren, Sean, Samantha, Gabriel, Hunter and Shane; and great-granddaughter Jaidyn. She is also survived by her eleven siblings, Tommy, Rudy, Anne, Joe, Ethel, Emily, Roy, Jenny, Margie, Francis, Jesse, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
