Helen was born on July 25, 1924 to Maurice and Anna Harward in Sioux City, Iowa where she met her husband, Bernard Michaelson. They were married almost 73 years and lived most of this time in Kansas City, Missouri.
After graduating from Leed's High School in Sioux City, Helen worked for the Sioux City Journal newspaper. She married Bernard (Mike) and began her new career as a housewife and mother in Wichita where her children, Cathy and Jeff, were born. After moving to Minneapolis, she and Mike subsequently settled in Kansas City.
Helen was considered the family matriarch and made it her duty to provide a welcoming home for her immediate family and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to clean, cook, and especially bake. She was a member of the Red Bridge Social Club for over 40 years and planned many social outings for her special ladies group. She enjoyed living in the Red Bridge community and spending time with the family.
Helen was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Helen is survived by daughter, Cathy Arnold and son, Jeff, along with 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She lived a life so full of love, family, and happiness.
A Visitation for Helen will be held Monday, November 21, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery
