Goldie Marie Edelblute, 91, passed away June 5, 2012 at Kansas City Hospice House. Goldie was born April 6, 1921 in Saline County, Missouri, to Charles H. Hemeyer and Freda (Moeller) Hemeyer. She grew up on a farm in Saline County and attended grades 1 through 8 in a one room school and graduated from Slater High School. She attended Central Business College in Kansas City and worked two years at Bruce Dodson Insurance Company, where she met her future husband. She also worked nine years at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Tenth District. In 1945 she married the love of her life, Forrest E. Edelblute, who preceded her in death in 1971. Goldie lived her last years in assisted living at Hidden Lake, Raytown, Missouri, where she made many great friends. She was a member of Noland Road Baptist Church and enjoyed their “Young at Heart” senior adult fellowship. She was their tour leader for many years and also put together their monthly newsletter until her death. Goldie is survived by her brothers, Erdell Hemeyer (Betty) of Slater, Missouri and Roy Hemeyer (Katy) of Loveland, Colorado, her son, Greg Edelblute (Katie) of Leawood, Kansas, and daughters Melinda Kelly (Chris), Andrea Percy (Jared), and Sara Edelblute, her daughter, Jill West (Stephen) of Kansas City, Missouri, and their daughter Angela West, five great grandchildren, Chloe Kelly, Hadley Kelly, Sara West, Autumn Savage-West, Aidan West, and a sixth great granddaughter due in June. Her friendly smile and sunny disposition will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, June 10, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Noland Road Baptist Church, 4505 South Noland Road, Independence, Missouri, 64055. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the church. Graveside service and burial will follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
