Geraldine E. Williams

Glenn Williams, just before he deployed to the Navy and, after WWII, they were married and lived for a time in Kansas City, MO.

Jerry and Glenn had two children, Michael and Janet. Eventually, the family moved to Raytown, MO where they lived first on 66th Terrace and then on 85th Terrace in a newly-built house.

1 Peter 4:10 ESV says: As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.

This verse is Geraldine. She had gifts in abundance, including great care for those she loved. She used that trait as she raised her family, kept her home, and helped her community.

Geraldine loved homemaking and was extraordinary at it. She was a great cook, known best for her coconut cream pie. She canned and made jelly, specializing in strawberry jam. Geraldine was a talented seamstress, making her own clothes and clothes for her children. Her home was always warm and welcoming.

Geraldine was active in the Raytown Baptist Church with the children’s department and her adult Sunday School Class. She had many friends through church and her community.

In later years, Geraldine did ceramics and excelled at china painting. She moved on to making beautiful, detailed china dolls; she dressed and painted many award-winning dolls. We cherish each piece she made.

Geraldine was kind, loving, wise, talented, and smart. She kept up with current events and loved to discuss them as well as new recipes and decorating trends. She had wise thoughts and was a good listener. Her home was always beautiful and comfortable. She loved her family and extended relatives. She delighted in each baby as they came along and loved each child as they grew up. She loved Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of her church.

Geraldine is survived by her two children, Janet Hite; Michael Williams and his wife Debby; her five grandchildren, Justin White, Melanie White, Melinda Williams Howe, Megan Williams Johnson, and Meredith Williams Embry; her ten great grandchildren; her two sisters, Pat and Wilma; her three brothers, Orville, Gordon (Corky), and James (Jim); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenn Williams, and two step brothers Don Cook and Jack Cook.

She lived with us for almost 96 years. Now, she is with Christ.

A celebration of her life will be held in the future, hopefully in Spring 2021.
