George was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma spending much of his childhood there prior to moving to Kansas City, Kansas. George graduated from Turner High School and went on to proudly serve his country as a United States Marine, seeing combat in the Vietnam Conflict. George was a Purple Heart recipient and incredibly proud of his military service. He attended college at California State Sacramento for a time before returning to Kansas.
George was a sales professional the majority of his working years. George ensured that all of his customers received exceptional personal attention and a positive experience. He maintained an incomparable quality of customer service throughout his career and was highly respected among his peers all of whom enjoyed working with him.
George is preceded in death by his parents LaDonna Smith and Clarence Moore, grandparents Pansy and Edward Kimble along with siblings Donna Peters and Gary Moore.
He is survived by his wife, Shelly, and stepchildren Robert and Claudia, all of Olathe, Kansas. Also surviving are siblings Vicki Smith (wife of Terry), Wichita, Kansas, Denise Lane (wife of Ross), Olathe, Kansas, as well as a half-brother Brian Hall (husband of Vickie) Linn Valley, Kansas. One uncle, Carl Kimble and his wife Tanya of Springfield, Illinois also survive.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to McGilley and Sheil Funeral Home, 11924 E 47th Street, Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral service will be 10:00am Thursday February, 24, 2022 at McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will take place 10:00am Monday February 28, 2022 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer a donation in memory of George be made to K9s for Warriors at k9sforwarriors.org.
This is not goodbye, it is a thank you. Thank you for coming into our lives and making them so much better. Thank you for the memories we will never forget but will cherish forever.
