Fred was born on July 15, 1932 in Gottschee, Yugoslavia, the oldest of three children to Fred Sr. and Marie (Mausser) Wolf. He is preceded in his death by his parents, sister Lottie Wolf Halcomb, and brother Bro. Bart Wolf, O.F.M.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jeannine (Purdy) Wolf of Prairie Village, Kansas; his five children – son Dan Wolf of West Bloomfield, Michigan, son David Wolf of Leawood, Kansas, daughter Carol Riley of Port O’Connor, Texas, son Jim Wolf and wife Kimberly of Overland Park, Kansas, and son Brian Wolf and wife Susie of Overland Park, Kansas; and, his seven grandchildren – grandson Chris Wolf and wife Anna, granddaughter Kelsey Wolf, grandson Brock Wolf and wife Taylor, grandson Collin Wolf, grandson Logan Wolf, grandson Carson Wolf, and grandson Caden Wolf.
Fred immigrated to the United States in 1950 with his family and became a naturalized U.S. citizen soon thereafter. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge he followed in his father’s footsteps and became a very talented artisan and craftsman in the painting and decorating business.
Fred met his wife Jeannine on a blind date through a mutual friend. They were married on May 5, 1956. Jeannine was instrumental in influencing and supporting Fred in his entrepreneurial effort to start and operate his own company, the Fred Wolf Painting & Decorating Company.
Fred was a lifelong member of the Bigelow Gun Club, a private hunting establishment in northwest Missouri. He took great pride in teaching all of his sons and grandsons how to duck hunt. Fred’s and Jeannine’s favorite escape was their lovely waterfront home at Lake of the Ozarks in central Missouri. Fred loved seeing all his children and grandchildren spend time at the lake house and enjoy fishing, boating, water skiing, and other water sport activities. Fred’s and Jeannine’s other favorite escape was their annual wintertime vacation to Sanibel Island, Florida. This was a recurring destination during their retirement years. Fred was a true outdoorsman and his collection of prized ducks, trophy fish, and seashells adorned their homes.
Fred was also a member of the Rockhurst High School Alumnus Dad Club, where all four of his sons graduated from high school.
