Born January 13, 1926 near Cameron, Missouri, son of Chester Hamer and Helen Barnes Wyckoff. He was the second of twelve children. He attended Willow Brook Grade School and graduated from Maysville High School in 1944 and joined the Navy.
He was serving aboard the USS Walter C. Wann 412 Destroyer Escort during WWII when the US engaged war against Japan. He was commissioned with shooting down fighter pilots at Pearl Harbor. After being discharged a Yeoman 2nd Class, he returned home to Maysville and married his neighbor Cora Mae Maltsburger and had four sons in that union. They farmed until times got hard and then moved to Kansas City where he worked for TWA, retiring in 1986.
Frank then moved to Arizona where he met and married Juanita McClellan Hutton, a Cameron girl, on December 26, 1992 and lived there until 2012 when he returned to Missouri for health reasons and the death of Juanita shortly thereafter.
Frank was also preceded in death by his parents, son Craig, grandson Andrew, brothers George and David Wyckoff, sisters Eileen Wyckoff Stevenson Watson and Carolyn Wyckoff Robinson, and half-brother Roy Wyckoff Johnson.
He is survived by his children Chester and Calvin of North Kansas City, Curtis (Jan) of Covington, Washington; stepdaughters Mary Wilkins of Smithville, Missouri and Elizabeth Senseman of Arizona; grandchildren Amanda, Brandy, Elisa and Kate; great-grandchildren Alexandria, Izabella, Christopher, Cody and Caitlyn; brothers Alvin Lee (Emily) of Ankeny, Iowa, Keith (Betty) of Lakeside, California, John (Pat Greiner) and Everett (Linda) of Cameron, Missouri; sisters Marie (Gerald) Daniels of Arvada, Colorado, Lois (Gerald) Reynolds of King City, Missouri, Mary (Duane) Hankins of Kansas City, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Military Honors at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. Donations may be made to donor’s choice.
