Esther Mae Bell 88, of Gladstone MO passed away on February 5 2015. Esther was born Esther Mae Evans on December 26 1926 in Santa Fe TN to William Grover Cleveland Evans and Ella Mae Bryan Evans. Esther’s family lived in Kentucky, Arkansas and Missouri. Esther graduated class of 1944 from Rich Hill High School in Rich Hill MO. She then moved to Kansas City MO, where she worked for Commerce Bank and later Montgomery Ward.
Esther was married on February 14 1948, in KCMO, and was devoted and loving wife of almost 68 years to Eugene Ellis Bell and to this union a son and daughter were born. Esther and her husband Gene lived in and raised their family in KCK and moved to Gladstone in 1977. Esther was a member of the Glenwood Baptist Church in Kansas City MO. Esther enjoyed playing the piano for the “Senior Joy Gathering” group and the Senior Sunday School Class.
Esther was proceeded in death by her parents; brothers James Carl Evans & John Grover Evans; sisters Eska Catherine Woody, and Orea Marie Short.
In addition to Eugene, survivors include her daughter Nancy (Jerry) Kuhn, of Chattanooga TN and son David Eugene Bell (Debbie) of KCK. Grandson G Chad (Nikki) Kuhn of Knoxville TN, granddaughters Nicole Kuhn of Chapel Hill NC, Ashley Tibbetts of Cartersville GA. Nieces Pat Nelson of Irving CA, and Carolyn Ermie and Marie (Larry) Glendening, all of Hendersonville TN; and step-grandchildren Sheree (Kevin)Blackwell, of Chesapeake VA, Bryan Wright of Overland Park KS, and three great- grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren.
Services are Monday, February 9 at 1:00 PM at the McGilley Antioch Chapel 3325 Vivion Road, Kansas City. A visitation will precede the service beginning at 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow at the White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Gladstone MO.
